Amazon.co.uk Review Snail's Pace Race is a game with a difference and is great fun for all ages--it is non-competitive, (so no winner, no loser, no tears) and is particularly ideal for those children who get frustrated by competition. How is this achieved? Because the snails are the winners and losers, and not the players. Snail's Pace Race can be played by 2-6 players and is aimed primarily at the 3-7 years age group (but anyone can play, really). The game comes in an attractive game box, complete with the game board, six brightly coloured snails and two dice. The object of the game is quite simple: enjoy yourself and have fun because not only the fastest snail wins, the slowest is also a winner. Start by placing each of the six snails on the starting position on the game board--red snail on red arrow, blue snail on blue arrow and so on. All six snails race every time, no matter how many players are in the game. Each player takes it turn to throw the two colour dice--if you throw blue and red, then the blue and red snails each move on one space on the board. If you throw two yellows, then the yellow snail moves on two spaces on the board. As the game gets underway, each player has to guess which snail will be the first to finish, or which snail will be the last to finish; whatever you prefer! Who wins? The first snail--the last snail--any snail! Players never lose a turn, never get sent back, and never get knocked off the board. No reading or number skills are required, so there'll be no bad tempers, just lots and lots of fun! --Ben King Note: not suitable for children under three years of age due to small parts.
Product Description Little ones will learn their colors while playing a fun game. Choose a color snail that you think will come in first and one that will come in last. Roll the wooden die and move the snails that match the colors rolled on the dice. If two of the same colors are rolled, then your snail would move two spaces. Onceall of the snails have reached their color circle at the end of the board, the game is over. Just remember to keep track of which snails were first and which finished last. The players who chose the right snails win.

| Customer Reviews: Still going strong, 20 years later! June 3, 2010 H. E. Mackay This is an excellent game that has served our family very well! It's durable, easy for children of all ages and doesn't require any assembling. I seem to remember also that the youngest player goes first, which always appealed to young children playing. I am so pleased to see that this game is still in existance!
Great Fun July 4, 2006 mbogle (ireland) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
A great game where the snails crawl accross the board trying to beat the other coloured snails. The object of the game is to see which snail gets to the end first. There is no winner as the first and last 'wins'. The snails progress by each person throwing a dice and if it lands on a colour then the snail of that colour moves. Although the red snail always wins (surprisingly enough our son is able to create a competitive game out of a non-competitive one)he has spent many fun hours playing with his friends. A great game that encourages children to wait their turn and co-operate in a game situation.
It can also be fun for adults while I must admit although the idea is so simple I still find it hard to understand why!
Overall great value for money and while some electronic toys are broken very quickly this just keeps going and is always pulled out to play with.
PERFECT for little ones!!!! October 25, 2004 Christine Thalheim (Upper Makefield, Pa., United States) 15 out of 16 found this review helpful
The magic in the game is that the SNAILS are the winners so that no child is a winner or looser....PERFECT for the competitive types... no tears.... just fun betting on which coloured snail will WIN!!! One of the VERY best games for little ones...VERY BEST!

A fantastic idea. Ideal for young players. Easy to understand, everyone gets a turn and no disappointment as there is never a loser! It still gives the opportunity to teach youngsters how to wait for their turn and simple counting as well as trying to determine the outcome of the game. Great fun.
