4 out of 5 stars does the job   August 10, 2010

I bought this sensor to replace an identical item that was supplied with a garmin Edge 705 and had developed a fault, becoming rather battery hungry....sadly just outside of the warranty period. If you notice that your unit starts to use up batteries at a silly rate, have it replaced under warranty by Garmin immediately. The product does exactly what it says on the tin: it measures your speed (when no GPS signal is available) and your cadence. Very easy to fit and requires no effort to use- the Garmin unit does all the hard work.

A couple of niggly issues:
-A few of my friends have had issues with water getting into the unit (perhaps that is what broke my original one?) and so now they add extra sealant to the batery compartment...I have done the same.
-It would have been so easy to construct a removable unit that simply slides/clips into place for use. This would allow for easy trasfer to another bike (OK you'd still need another mounting bracket) rather than having to buy another, relatively expensive, sensor unit to use the 'multi-bike' function of the Garmin Edge.

Only four stars: it does what it is meant to do, but is quite expensive and the design could have been thought out better. Not that any of this really matters: as far as i'm aware, this is the only compatible speed/cadence sensor for the Garmin Edge...if you want to monitor your cadence, this is essential (just make sure it doesn't leak).

excellent product. i use the Garmin FR60 and the whole package is fantastic. the Garmin Speed/Cadence Sensor allows you to see all your data on the screen (both watch and computer) and plan training. its easy to put on the bike and even easier to set up on the watch.

Item comes complete with all fittings and is easily linked with the Garmin 705. It has given me trouble free operation since fitting.

4 out of 5 stars Good addition to the 305   July 12, 2010

Bought this to put on the bike for cadence along with my 305 - prob not changed too much in terms of my cycling but as I read more about cycling and understand the intricies of improving technique, efficiency etc then perhaps this will come into its own, if not it is great for those techno geeks of us who like data.... one of these did get broken whilst out on a ride so careful placement is advised
