Nice But Noisy September 6, 2010

I bought this printer for my eldest daughter for Uni but when my youngest daughter used up a colour ink cartridge in my Lemark at a cost of £20 in 2 days I decided it was time for me to have something more economical myself!
I have found the printer more than adequate for my needs but I found the software not as intuitive and easy to use as the Lexmark was. It is something of a rattly thing and if this is important to you then I would consider looking elswhere.
I have heard that Kodak printers are the most economical to run but found that it is not convenient to purchase cartridges locally to me if needed in a hurry.
Just ordered a second One for my daughter for Uni !

The Epson SX415 is a good printer. Photo quality is less good than with the Epson Stylus Photo R265 I also use but document printing is excellent. I don't find it too noisy, as other users seem to, but silent it ain't.
It scans photos and documents into the PC very efficiently and reasonably quickly, with good quality results.
And as a black/white or colour photocopier it performs well too.
All in all, a satisfactory purchase from my point of view, although I admit I haven't had it long enough to comment on its thirst for ink cartridges.

although this printer is very new to me i like the look of it and the price but up to now i do not find it as good as my epson 5400 it is very noisey and i sappose i have to use it more than i do to make a proper comparison

I recently purchased the Epson Stylus SX415 3 in 1 unit. It does what it says on the tin. Good value for money. Good quality copies, etc. Photos good. Have not yet tried putting camera memory card in the unit as I usually do prints via my computer. Only drawback, is noisy on first print copy, but was aware of that when I bought the product. All in all a very good buy.

My previous Epson was not printing and telling me that parts were life expired. I bought this more up-to-date Epson through Amazon, the printer is working fine. What i should have done was check my receipt for the expired printer - I had extended its guarantee with Currys where I bought it to August 24th 2010 (3 years) so I could have had it fixed or replaced for free!
