SATISFIED September 7, 2010 MMS Thomson (Scotland U.K.) An excellent gizmo which does what it says.
A good buy, well worth the price
I am a satisfied customer in regards to this product.........
great wee gizmo September 6, 2010 John A. Ferguson (western isles) I am not an avid movie watcher though at times I am given movies by friends. This gizmo does the job ,it is small therfore easy to hide (unobtrusive) easy to use and as they say does what it says on the tim. Reason for 4 stars is the remote I find is a bit small. For the money you can't beat it.
Great item September 6, 2010 P. Fairbrother (Nottinghamshire, England) Easy to use, very convenient, especially useful when traveling and using tv you are not familiar with. Unfortunately, hdmi cable not included.
Category 1 Cyclone! September 3, 2010 Basil Dazzle 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I purchased this product as I wanted an easy way of watching downloaded films and TV shows on my LCD without having to connect my Laptop to the TV.I chose the Cyclone as it has an HDMI connection and a Composite video/Stereo audio line output to connect to older TVs.The small size is welcome also as it is easy to place in any A/V set up and easy to move to another TV at any time.Included in the box is an AV lead, power supply and a 3" cd with a very informative instruction manual in PDF format. No HDMI lead is provided.
After connecting the Cyclone to my Samsung LCD via HDMI I inserted a USB memory stick and the files immediately appeared on screen.I began to watch a DVD quality film transferred onto the memory stick and after making a few adjustments in the set up menu acheived an excellent quality playback. This meant using the Remote Control and as other reviewers have commented it is fiddly to use but works fine provided a direct line of sight is available when setting up.
I then tried the Composite video/Stereo audio line output via my Yamaha AV amp and also achieved a very acceptable quality playback. This brought to light a problem with clashing remote control codes! When adjusting the volume on my Yamaha receiver via the Yamaha remote the Cyclone goes into rewind mode!
The Cyclone outputs to the HDMI socket and the Composite/Stereo audio line output simultaneously so I can view the picture via HDMI and listen via line out through the AV amp.
Overall a very good value product spoilt slightly for me by the Remote Code Clash
Tiny media player but fantastic. August 31, 2010 A. J. Parkes (Dudley, UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I got this to put some AVI files on and play them on the upstairs TV. I copied some avi films to a usb memory drive, inserted it in the unit, plugged it all in and switched it on. On the remote press the movie button and it displays all the movies. Highlight the one you want and press play, simple as that. If you connect through hdmi, it upscales the picture to 1080p. As I have only used the component cables that come with the unit, I have not tried this option to see the quality difference.
When on, there is a powerful bright blue LED light that is very bright. When switched off it is a bright red. They need to lower the brightness of these leds, they are ultra bright and can be off-putting.
My main criticism is with the remote. It is small and you really have to press the buttons hard to operate the unit. But then again, for the small outlay cost, this can be overlooked easily. Wish it could play blu-ray files or even HD avi files, but then again, that would probably added to the overall cost with the extra codecs.
Great and small that can be packed away with you on holiday. Put some files on a memory stick and if the TV in your room as component input, you can watch your own films. Great buy and recommended,
